TODAY: BITCOIN & THE DARKNET IN PARLIAMENT

Some time ago, I briefly mentioned that things are getting a bit quieter here on the blog because I'm currently writing more about Bitcoin on behalf of others. Now the time has come for the first results of this work to come out of print and become generally accessible.

Like the current issue of Aus Politik und Zeitgeschichte (APuZ), a monothematic journal that most of you have probably never heard of (probably similar to me if I had not studied political science). This magazine is published by the Federal Agency for Civic Education and regularly appears as a supplement to the weekly newspaper Das Parlament. (Well, who knows?)

From Politics and Contemporary History - Darknet (and Bitcoin)

In any case, the current issue is dedicated to the main topic of Darknet, and in addition to six other authors who approach this topic from different perspectives, I was asked if I could contribute an article to my special topic. I could.

I am very happy for two reasons that I was allowed to do that. First, because this issue gives its authors a lot of space compared to most other print media. Especially in the case of such a multi-faceted and multi-layered phenomenon as Bitcoin that is, of course, an advantage.

An institution with enormous reach

The second point is that the range of this medium, even if it many (yet) do not know, is enormous. With a starting price of 70,000, for example, politics and contemporary history are not so far away from Handelsblatt that in the third quarter of 2017, just over 85,000 copies were sold (per day).

However, the APuZ distribution is a completely different one. The magazine goes together with Parliament (which, incidentally, is issued by the Bundestag) mostly free of charge among the people, in educational institutions, at political institutions and in their periphery.

Accordingly, the current Darknet / Bitcoin issue comes not only in the newspaper The Parliament but together with this in large numbers actually in the Bundestag and all related institutions. And ultimately into the hands of a great many decision-makers and influencers, who may not yet have dealt with Bitcoin, but who should know about it in 2017.

All content for free and under Creative Commons license

But the political ecosystem is not the only target group. Because according to the mission of the Federal Agency for Civic Education, the notebooks should not only reach a professional audience but be accessible to every citizen. Therefore, all APuZ texts are not only available online, but are also under a Creative Commons license, so they can also easily be distributed and may. In addition, you can get both these current as well as many older issues for free.

So, if you've ever been looking for an example of the use of taxpayers' money, this is one thing, and I highly recommend making use of it. Especially since the articles of the other authors are extremely worth reading.
