Samsung and Seoul city government work on Blockchain platform
Samsung SDS, an IT subsidiary of the large Korean conglomerate, announced its intention to develop a blockchain platform for the public sector.
According to the Korea Herald, Samsung SDS is said to have signed a contract with the Seoul Metropolitan Government. By 2022, the blockchain will be used to perform administrative tasks such as social assistance, public safety and public transport in the capital.
Hong Won-pyo, CEO of Samsung SDS stated:
"Samsung SDS's Blockchain technology and our consulting expertise will help Seoul reach the edge as a premier cosmopolitan city."
The city administration wants to make their work more transparent and simplify administrative processes for citizens with the help of blockchain technology.
Samsung announced another blockchain project in February. Nexledger, a platform that has been stored on the company's cloud, will be used for the work of Blockchain consortia.
