BTC-e: Hearing for delivery in December
The hearing on the extradition of the man behind the money laundering on the former BTC-e Bourse will take place in December.
According to the Associated Press, the hearing will be postponed until 6 December so that two important witnesses can be present. The defendant is the Russian Alexander Vinnik. He was arrested in July. He is accused of channeling millions of dollars through the BTC-e to the US state. Against the stock market is also determined.
Vinnik's arrest had attracted international attention. The US Attorney's Office issued an arrest warrant for Vinnik, while the stock exchange received a fine of $ 110 million from the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.
As a result, Vinnik was arrested in Greece. At first, it looked as if Vinnik would be extradited to the United States, but then the Russian public prosecutor's office intervened.
The international legal question turned into a political power struggle. Now the Greek Supreme Court has to decide on which extradition claim must be granted.
Vinnik has always asserted his innocence in relation to the allegations from the United States. He admitted, however, that he had worked for BTC-e. BTC-e has since changed its name and denied cooperation with Vinnik.
